To add an Instagram-Channel to, it first needs to be converted into an Instagram for Business account and additionally connected to a Facebook page.


These are the required steps, to connect an Instagram channel to

  • Connect your Instagram for Business account to a Facebook Page. This is necessary because Instagram is connected through Facebook. Normally, this step is proposed to you automatically when you turn your account into an Instagram for Business account. If it is not connected, this article might help.

    It is not possible to connect multiple Instagram for Business accounts to the same Facebook Page. Please note that each Instagram for Business account can only be connected to one Facebook Page.

Adding the channel

First of all, please make sure that the Facebook account with which you are logged in to in your browser has admin-rights for the connected Facebook page.
You can check this in the settings of the Facebook page connected to the Instagram account under "Page Roles". Your account should appear under the "Existing Page Roles" section as Admin.

Now you can connect your Instagram channel to by clicking "Add Channel" in the General Workspace settings and selecting "Instagram" as the channel type.

If you see your channel in the selection, just select it and add it to, all other steps described in this article will be omitted and you're good to go. If not, please follow the article below.


If Facebook is showing you the window for the Facebook-authorisation, please click on "Review the info you provide":

For all Instagram accounts shown, please click and select all available options:

It is necessary to select all channels and permissions, so that can retrieve the channel information also for any new channels added later in the future.

Once you confirmed the authorisation dialogue, your Instagram channels will be displayed to you to be added to


In case, that despite fulfilling all requirements your channel is not displayed for selection on, you may have restricted Facebook's permissions for to certain channels in the past.

Attention: This step will unfortunately also invalidate all Access Token for Facebook and Instagram channels that were already set on earlier!

You will see in the channel overview page of the workspace settings on for which channels the access token is invalid (these are marked in the list with a red warning sign). If necessary, you can reset the access tokens in the workspace settings of the respective channel by clicking on "Reset Token".

In case the token is valid, it will be displayed like this:

As a next step, please proceed to the Facebook Business Integrations and click "View and edit" in the section for

Please make sure that all Facebook pages and Instagram accounts currently connected to have been granted all permissions:

Now there should be no more problems adding the Instagram Business-Account successfully.

Setting up the Business-Account again

Should all steps described above not work, the Instagram for Business account is probably not connected properly to the Facebook page in the background - even though it appears as connected. There are two possible solutions to that:

1. Disconnect the connection to Instagram

  1. Go to the settings of the Facebook Page

  2. Click on "Instagram"

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Disconnect".

Note: if you click disconnect, no insights will be lost.

After that, manually add the Instagram Business account again via the Facebook Page:

2. Convert the Instagram Business account back into a personal Instagram account

In that case, following the below steps below will help.

Note: By doing so, you will lose all insights of the Instagram for business account collected so far:

  1. Go to the Instagram app on your smartphone / tablet or to the settings on your computer

  2. Switch back to a personal account via the settings menu

  3. Go to the settings menu of your Facebook Page (Attention: do not go to the Business Manager but to the Page settings directly on Facebook)

  4. Click on the item "Instagram" in the left menu

  5. Add your Instagram profile again - that way you will be offered to switch to a business profile again.

After that, you should be able to successfully add your Instagram account to using the guide above as of paragraph "Facebook Authorisation".
