In the following article, you’ll find detailed information about the format requirements for publishing TikTok video- and photo-posts.
Important: Swat.io has no control over the requirements of the interface, as the APIs are provided and managed directly by the respective social medias. Accordingly, the requirements vary depending on the platform.
What happens in case of a non-compliant upload?
If you upload a file to Swat.io that does not meet the requirements of the API, you will see a blue notification banner directly in Publisher:
This notification is intended to inform you that the file does not meet the specifications of the respective platform. In most cases, it will also provide specific details on which file specifications need adjustment for the upload to be successful.
TikTok video-posts
TikTok videos can be either scheduled in advance or published immediately through Swat.io Publisher. In order to create a TikTok post, upload your video in Swat.io's Composer and add your caption. You can include hashtags, links, and @mentions in the text, with a max. limit of 2,200 characters.
Note: To successfully publish a video on TikTok via Swat.io, you are obliged to add a caption text to the it. If no text is entered, the publication will fail.
TikTok video specifications
In order to publish videos via the API TikTok provided to Swat.io, the following requirements must be met:
Format | .mp4, .webm & .mov |
File size | up to 1 GB |
Aspect ratio | 9:16 recommended |
Resolution | 1080x1920 |
Duration | min. 3 seconds, max. 600 seconds |
These specifications are also displayed directly in Publisher:
TikTok photo-posts
Similar to the videos, Swat.io also allows you to upload one or more photos as a photo slideshow to TikTok. To do this, select the “Photo(s)” category. You can upload up to 35 photos and publish them as a slideshow.
Adding music
When creating photo posts, you can choose to add randomly selected music from TikTok to your post. If you want to change the music after the post has been successfully published, you can replace it directly in TikTok with a track of your choice.
Note: If no random music was selected during the initial photo-post creation, it will not be possible to add music later natively in TikTok. Unfortunately the TikTok API does not support this functionality.
Hashtag suggestions for TikTok posts
When starting to enter a hashtag in a post in composer, TikTok’s API automatically provides hashtag suggestions and displays the number of views each of the suggested hashtag has already generated on the social media.
This is a function currently only supported by the TikTok API.
Limitations of the API
Unfortunately, the following actions are not possible via the API provided by TikTok:
Transferring scheduled posts directly to TikTok to publish them manually;
To add interactive elements;
If no random music was selected for a photo-post, it is not possible to add music natively on TikTok, when editing the post.
