Define keywords

In the beginner-mode of our monitoring feature, you can define individual keywords for which you want to receive results. You can select the following criteria:

  • A result must contain at least one of your keywords.

  • A result must contain all of your keywords.

Important: Each word or phrase in your monitoring query must be confirmed by pressing the Enter-key.

Case sensitivity

Keywords are not case-sensitive. There is no need to add multiple versions of a single word.

Example: The keyword “aBOve” will automatically find “above”, “ABOVE, etc.

Exceptions are umlauts. In these cases it is recommended to add both spelling variants.

Example: “Zürich” will not automatically find “Zuerich”.

Multiple words as a single query

In case you enter multiple words in one field and confirm with the Enter-key, this exact string of characters will be searched. To get a result, this exact phrase (without words in between) needs to appear on the internet/on social media - but still, there is no case sensitivity.

Exclusion keywords

You can as well define exclusion keywords to filter out undesired results.

Example: Search for "Restaurant" in "Zurich", but exclude "Pizza".

Language Filter option

With the language filter, you can limit your monitoring query to results in specific languages.

However, please note that this does not serve as a geographic filter. It only restricts the output language of the results displayed. Additionally, when the language filter is activated, results in languages which cannot be detected - such as posts containing very few words, e.g. just a hashtag - will not be displayed.

Quick Tip: We recommend regularly reviewing and updating your monitoring queries and to add new exclusion words. This way you can narrow down your results the best way to refine your results.
