A sudden spike in comment volume or recurring critical content can be early indicators of conversations getting out of hand or an emerging shitstorm. To help you detect such situations early and to respond quickly, Swat.io provides notification and automation features that actively support you.
This allows you to stay on top of things even during high interaction volumes, get early warnings about irregularities and initiate internal escalation or crisis processes in time.
Benefits of alerts in Swat.io
Early detection of critical situations before unanswered comments escalate;
More time to react and coordinate within the team or with external stakeholders;
Reduced manual monitoring effort, especially outside of regular working hours;
Flexible configuration on channel level.
To support this, Swat.io offers two different but complementary ways to set up such alerts. Notifications can be sent directly within Swat.io or via email, depending on your personal notification settings.
Notifications for unusually high comment volume
Here, you define a threshold for unread comments per channel. If this threshold is reached, it indicates an unusually high level of interaction - for example due to viral posts, critical discussions or coordinated (spam-)comments. If this is happening, you receive a notification helping you to detect sudden communication spikes early, even if individual comments have not yet been reviewed in detail.
Typical use cases
Rapidly increasing comment numbers within a short period of time;
Unexpected reactions to posts;
Escalating discussions.
Where to find this setting?
When equipped with the permissions as workspace-manager, you can define the threshold directly in the inbox settings of the respective channel. The notification is triggered automatically as soon as the defined limit is exceeded:
Keyword-based notifications with "automations"
In addition, you can use keyword-based automations in Swat.io to be alerted to specific types of content. Incoming items are automatically checked and - if they match defined terms or word combinations - are marked, forwarded to a specific user or trigger an alert.
Automations can be set up for incoming comments, private messages and posts from Social Media Monitoring (Custom packages only).
This makes it possible to automatically detect the following scenarios - even when overall comment volume is still moderate:
Frequently repeated negative terms;
Sensitive keywords (e.g. related to crises, products, or legal topics);
Typical escalation-related terms.
Quick Tip: Combining content-based monitoring (keywords) with quantitative monitoring (comment volume) provides a particularly reliable foundation for identifying potentially escalating comment clusters at an early stage.
