Sentiments of user comments

Written by Florian Triller-Windisch

By adding sentiments to comments, you can classify individual Inbox comments as positive, neutral or negative. This classification is done using emojis displayed next to each comment. The more comments are assigned a sentiment, the more meaningful the analysis in Swat.io Insights becomes.

Info: This feature is included in our Medium-, Large- and Custom-packages. You can find more details on the packages and the included features here.

Sentiments in the Inbox

Next to each user comment, you have the option to either manually assign a sentiment using emojis or view the already assigned sentiment: 😊 positive – 😐 neutral – 😠 negative.

The assigned sentiment is also directly available in Swat.io Insights and will be analyzed there.

You can see an example here:

How are sentiments assigned?

Comments can be evaluated in Swat.io in three different ways:

Manual assignment

You can assign a positive, neutral or negative sentiment to individual comments directly in Inbox. This is especially useful if you want to categorize feedback more precisely or evaluate specific comments deliberately.

Automatically via Swat.io AI

By activating Swat.io AI moderation, the sentiment of comments can be automatically detected and assigned accordingly.

The AI analyzes the content of a comment and evaluates it as positive, neutral or negative. You can find more information in the linked Help Center article.

Via automations

You can also assign sentiment using automations by defining rules based on keywords. This allows comments containing specific words, phrases or even emojis to be evaluated automatically, for example:

  • “great” or “thanks” → positive

  • “problem” or “not working” → negative

Why is this important?

Comment sentiment is a key part of your analysis:

  • You can quickly understand how your community reacts to your content,

  • You can identify trends and developments early,

  • You gain a solid foundation for reporting and optimization.
