With a simple workaround, you can prepare Instagram Stories in Swat.io and then finalize them directly in the Instagram app. This gives you the option to add interactive elements (e.g. stickers, polls, music or links), which are not available in Swat.io due to the limitations of Instagram’s provided interface, before publishing.

Below you’ll find a step-by-step guide along with the technical requirements:

Preparing the story in Swat.io

When setting up an Instagram Story in the Composer, you’ll already see instructions for the publishing process. Just like with any post you prepare in Swat.io, you have two options: Either publish the Story automatically or use the “Remind me” function to manually upload the Story in Instagram.

Directly in Swat.io Post-Composer, you can upload multiple videos and/or images as a Story and save them for later publishing. In addition, you have the option to add an internal notes to the pictures - e. x. to prepare the Story text that you can later copy and paste into Instagram.

Publishing on Instagram

Once the Story is ready to be published, the assigned user will receive an email reminder to publish the post. This email also provides the option to directly download the files as well as all prepared notes for the post. Publishing works as follows:

  1. Open the reminder email on a smartphone that has access to the respective Instagram account.

  2. Click the “Download” button and download the Story files provided in Swat.io (use Wi-Fi for large files).

  3. After downloading, you can use the “Share” menu to post the files directly as a Story on Instagram.

Options in the native share menu

  • Share: Opens the share menu, allowing you to select Instagram.

  • Forward: Also opens the share menu, but forwards the download link of the files from the prepared post in Swat.io.

  • Copy Note: Copies the prepared note text to the clipboard so it can be pasted into Instagram.

Requirements for video files

  • .mp4 files: Can be shared on both iOS and Android devices.

  • .mov files: Can only be shared on iOS devices (Android support not yet available).

System requirements

  • Android: Latest version

  • iOS: Version 15 or newer
