General Information About the Access Token

In order for Swat.io to communicate with your social media channel (e.g. a Facebook Page), a valid access token is required. This token is automatically generated during the authentication process when you first connect the channel to Swat.io.

Over time, access tokens can become invalid. This can happen for various reasons, such as:

  • The password of the connected social media account has been changed

  • Tokens expire due to the platform's security policies

  • Permissions have been manually revoked in the account settings

Swat.io will notify you via email as soon as a token becomes invalid or expires.

Keep in mind: As long as the token is invalid, Swat.io cannot publish posts or receive new tickets.

Step 1: Where to find the invalid Token

In your workspace, navigate to:

Settings > General > Channels

There, you’ll find a list of all connected channels. Invalid tokens are marked with a red warning triangle.

Did you receive an email notification? It contains a direct link to the settings page of the affected channel.

Important: You need the appropriate permissions to view and edit channel settings.
If you don’t have these, please contact a team member with admin rights in Swat.io.

Step 2: How to Reset the Token

  1. Open the channel settings of the affected channel.

  2. Click the “Reset Token” button.

  3. A permissions dialog from the social platform will open.

  4. Confirm the dialog and grant Swat.io all requested permissions.

Keep in mind: Make sure you are logged into your browser with an account that has the required permissions on the relevant social media channel (e.g. admin rights on a Facebook Page).

After Resetting the Token

Once the new token is successfully set, the connection will function normally again:

  • You can publish posts via Swat.io

  • New messages will automatically appear in your inbox

Important: Removing and re-adding the channel will permanently delete all previous data.
Always use the “Reset Token” function instead or contact our support!
