What is a Content-Planning channel?

Currently, Swat.io supports the following channel types via the official APIs of the various platforms:

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

  • LinkedIn

  • Bluesky

  • Threads

  • YouTube

  • X

  • Pinterest (Publisher only)

  • Google Business Pages (Inbox only)

  • WhatsApp (Inbox only)

  • E-Mail (Inbox only)

Other social media platforms currently do not offer dedicated APIs for the integration into Swat.io. As an alternative, Swat.io offers so-called "Content planning channels". Said channels allow you and your team to make use of all Swat.io features needed for planning and coordinating content. This way, you can also create channels for platforms like Tumblr or Snapchat or plan newsletters within Swat.io.

Note: Content Planning Channels are not connected to the respective platforms via an API. This means, that posts planned for these channels need to be published manually on the platforms itself.

However, integrating these channels into your Swat.io workspace allows you to use the editorial calendar and collaboration features to streamline your content planning and approval workflows.

Setting up a content planning channel

Info: In order to access the workspace-settings or to add a new channel in Swat.io, you need permissions as “workspace manager”. In case you don’t have this permission, please contact your Swat.io administrator.

In order to create a Content Planning channel, follow these steps:

  1. Open the general Workspace-Settings by clicking on your account name in the bottom-left corner.

  2. Navigate to the "Channels" section.

  3. Click the "Add Channel" button in the top-right corner.

  4. Open the "Content planning channels" section.

Here you'll find a list of suggested channel types, such as Newsletter, Snapchat, Tumblr, Vimeo, or XING. These options come pre-branded with the correct logos to make your setup easier.

Of course, you can also add an unbranded channel and assign a custom name later - simply click on Other.

Complete the process by adding a name to the channel and click on "Add Channel":

Your channel will be ready for use immediately and will appear in the channel list within the Publisher section of your workspace.
