In order to add a Bluesky account to Swat.io, it is a prerequisite that the respective account is a public account. Once connected, you can plan and publish posts via the Publisher and optionally manage comments and messages in the Inbox.
Connecting a Bluesky Account with Swat.io
Info: In order to access the workspace-settings or to add a new channel in Swat.io, you need permissions as “workspace manager”. In case you don’t have this permission, please contact your Swat.io administrator.
To add a Bluesky profile as a channel to Swat.io, follow these steps:
Open the general "Workspace Settings" by clicking on your account name in the bottom-left corner;
Navigate to the "Channels" section;
Click the "Add Channel" button in the top-right corner;
Scroll down in the "Main channels" section and select "Bluesky";
In the following pop-up, you will be prompted to enter your Bluesky handle and an app password. You will also need to agree to the terms of service of both Swat.io and Bluesky within this pop-up.
Note on app password: Connecting Bluesky to Swat.io requires an app password - not your regular Bluesky password. You can create an app password directly in your Bluesky settings.
The pop-up for the Bluesky authorization looks as follows in detail:
After confirming the data, the integration is complete and your newly added channel will immediately appear in the channel list of the workspace in the Publisher (optionally also in the Inbox). From there, you can start creating your first post right away.
Troubleshooting
Connection fail error, when adding the channel
If an error occurs when adding your Bluesky channel, this may be related to a display name set on your Bluesky profile. In this case, please follow these steps:
Open your Bluesky profile and temporarily remove your display name;
Return to Swat.io, restart the authorization process or reload the settings page;
Try to connect the channel again;
Once the connection is successful, you can reinstate your display name on Bluesky if needed.
