In order to enable 2-factor-authentication, you first need to open the user settings. Under the "Account" and subsequently the "Profile Info" section, you will find the button 2-Factor-Authentication.

For activating it, you will need an Authenticator app and a device to download the app to. The best device for that kind of use would be the personal smartphone and for this purpose you can use any Authenticator app.

Below you can find a selection of Authenticator apps available:

  • Google Authenticator

  • Microsoft Authenticator

  • Authy

  • LastPass

  • Duo Mobile

Once you have installed an Authenticator app on your device, you can open it and scan the displayed QR-code with the phone's camera. The QR-code is displayed on when clicking on the "Set up 2FA" button.

You will then receive a 6-digit numerical code, which you need to enter in the security settings on to activate the 2-factor-authentication.

IMPORTANT: Once the 2-factor-authentication is enabled, recovery codes are displayed on the screen. These 10 codes should be stored in a safe place, so that you can log in even if you lose your smartphone or in case the Authenticator app does not work properly.

If case you have used all 10 recovery codes, you can generate new codes, which should then be stored in a safe place again. Anytime you log in with one of the 10 codes, will notify you by email, so that you can keep track of how many codes are still left.
