With the Model Context Protocol (MCP), you can connect Swat.io with LLMs such as ChatGPT and Claude. This allows the AI tool or agent to interact with your Swat.io account using your own Swat.io API token - for example to prepare content or schedule posts in advance.
Important: As API access is a prerequisite for using MCP, this feature is available to customers on a Large or Custom plan. You can find an overview of our plans and included features here.
What is MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an interface built on top of our API that enables Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT or Claude to interact with Swat.io.

Connect with ChatGPT
Requirements
Before setting up the connection, please make sure that:
API Access is enabled in your Swat.io account;
You have an active ChatGPT Plus plan or higher;
Developer Mode in ChatGPT is enabled.
Enable MCP for ChatGPT
Activate API Access in your Swat.io account if it is not already enabled.
Enable Developer Mode in ChatGPT, as custom MCP connectors currently only work in Developer Mode. Open the Advanced Settings in ChatGPT and enable Developer Mode.
Add the MCP Server by opening Apps & Connectors in ChatGPT and clicking on "Create".
Enter the following details:
Name: e.g. Swat.io
MCP Server URL:
https://mcp.swatio.app/mcpAuthentication: OAuth
Enable the option to use this custom MCP server
Save your settings.
Authentication via OAuth
Note:
The connection between ChatGPT and Swat.io is established using the secure OAuth authorization process.
During the connection process, you will be redirected to Swat.io to confirm access. The connection will only be activated after you approve the request.
Verify the connection: Once the connection is successful, the status will be shown as connected.
To actively use Swat.io within ChatGPT, click the + in the chat, go to "More" and select "Swat.io". You will then see in the chat that Swat.io is connected. Whenever you want to interact with Swat.io via ChatGPT, make sure that Swat.io is selected in the respective chat.
Info: You can disconnect the connection at any time in the ChatGPT settings under Apps & Connectors. After disconnecting, ChatGPT will no longer be able to access your Swat.io account.
Connect with Claude
Requirements
Before setting up the connection, please make sure that:
API Access is enabled in your Swat.io account (otherwise the connection will fail).
Make sure your Claude plan is either Claude Pro or higher.
We recommend connecting Swat.io to Claude in the browser because it supports direct MCP connections and requires no local setup.
Enable MCP for Claude
Activate API Access in your Swat.io account if it is not already enabled.
In any Claude chat, click on the + symbol and then click "connectors". You will see your added connectors including the option "manage connectors". Open it.
Search for "Swat.io" (custom) and open it.
Optional: Add Swat.io as an MCP connector (only if you don't see it yet)
Click Add or + in the Connectors area
Choose MCP / Custom connector
Enter a name: Swat.io
And the server URL:
https://mcp.swatio.app/mcpClick Save to create the connection
Authentication via OAuth
Note:
The connection between Claude and Swat.io is established using the secure OAuth authorization process.
During the connection process, you will be redirected to Swat.io to confirm access. The connection will only be activated after you approve the request.
You’ll be redirected back to Claude and the Swat.io should now appear as connected in the connectors overview. Then click the + symbol again, select "connectors" and check that the connector is enabled.
Now test whether the connection works by entering a test prompt like: "Show my Swat.io workspaces”.
Limitations
Please note the following current limitations:
Direct publishing of posts via MCP is currently not possible.
Content can be scheduled in advance but not published immediately. MCP is in beta and is being continuously improved.
